A Quest for Reform of
the Orthodox Church
The 1923 PAN-ORTHODOX CONGRESS: An Analysis and Translation of its Acts and Decisions edited by Fr. Patrick Viscuso
It is with pleasure therefore that we wel- come the publication in an English trans- lation of the acts and decisions of the 1923 Congress, prepared by the Reverend Dr. Patrick Viscuso, an expert in canon law. He deserves our thanks and commenda- tions for the initiative to translate into English a difficult text from the original Greek. In his substantial and excellently researched introduction, Father Viscuso provides the background to that Congress, discussing the difficult international cli- mate of the times, the uncertainties and dangers that the Church faced following World War I, the Russian Revolution, the rise of Turkish nationalism, European pol- itics and national aspirations, all of which affected the lives of millions of Orthodox Christians in Europe and the Near East.

Историјске и богословске студије
by John Meyendorff
Gathered in this volume are studies on various historical and theological issues which have arisen between East and West over the centuries. These essays, character- ized by Fr Meyendorff’s typical brilliance and balance, discuss different aspects of the estrangement between the two halves of the Christian world and present an eval- uation of several attempts at healing the schism. The problems related to the fall of Byzantium and the reuse of Russia as a ma- jor center of Orthodox mission and thought are also discussed.
