Paul Beatson & Sue Peter “Aussie” Yin John Toogood
Chris Kurz Darren “Rowdy” Broadley Peter Marsterlez
Simon & Renee Odd with Izzy and Scarlett
Michael Hulse with Connor, Shauna, Asher and Allegra
                Peter White

         The Aim
To explore the Snowy River National Park after spending 5 years clearing tracks in the adjacent
Parks Victoria Alpine National Park, Omeo area.
The area contains one of the Iconic 4WD Tours the Snowy River Drive, the McKillop’s Bridge and
         the Deddick Trail.
Paul Beatson had suggested a beautiful campsite at the junction of the Little River and the
Snowy River, appropriately called The Little River Junction Campsite.
This was to be our base for the weekend.

         Friday
Those following on from the Track Clearing week headed across from Native Dog Flat Friday
morning whilst the others arrived from Melbourne and other overnight stops during the day.
The trip to camp was “interesting” a 10km section of very narrow winding road barely 1 car wide
takes you from the Western edge of the through to Little River Junction Camp turnoff.
(Think Great Ocean Road but only one lane wide, no shoulder, no safety railing, very few
passing points, blind corners and dirt – a bit stressful- especially when towing. We even strug-
         gled to pass oncoming motorbikes.)

On arrival in camp a quick inspection of Peter M’s vehicle revealed a boiling main battery, after a
week of fun in the bush Peter decided he would head back to Melbourne and not risk a total
         failure on some remote track.
The rest of us explored the campsite, some taking a dip in the Snowy River (which was not as
cold as its name would suggest). Those setting up camp soon noticed the large ant nests
throughout the campsite. I think only one us was bitten during the weekend which was surprising
         considering the thousands of ants.
Other campers had left small piles of wood at their sites and this provided us with enough for the
evening. Rowdy kindly picked some more up on his way into camp.
