BEIJING JONES
                                          An Action-Adventure Feature Film

                                                    Gilberto Nunes

LOG LINE – A disillusioned hack writer suffers an early mid-life crisis just as his adventure
novels take on a dangerous life of their own and he must enter that mystical high-stakes
realm as his heroic alter ego to save the world and win back the love of his life.

SYNOPSIS – Best-selling Chinese author Shou Shan is in a slump and mourning the
break-up with his archaeologist girlfriend, Dr. Meilin. She dreams of Shou being more like
his story hero Beijing Jones. Shou’s inspired by Mick Jagger on a TV show talking about
mid-life crisis. Then both he and Dr. Meilin receive cryptic messages about a hidden temple
in Malaysia, a mystical statuette, and Elementals [Air, Earth, Fire, Water] very upset at how
humans are treating the earth. The messages translate to an invitation to a ritual in a
hidden temple during an eclipse…in four days.

In Malaysia, Shan and Dr. Meilin bicker over how to approach this mysterious mission. He
learns about the rape of the forests via corruption, greed and forced labor as well as a
wealthy collector’s theft of many rare antiquities – including the mystical statuette.

Nature’s acting up with earthquakes, ferocious winds, water snakes, and more. Shou
becomes more like Beijing Jones to save the situation and trek on through the jungle,
searching for the hidden temple and hoping to get there in time.

Meanwhile Dr. Meilin and the collector, who funds her expedition, are welcomed into a
village. Soon Shou and his team are dragged in, accused of artifact theft, and then he’s
revealed as the author of the Beijing Jones adventures. No good, they’re all prodded to a
dangerous-looking ceremony. But Shou leads a break-out and they escape in canoes, only
to stumble into another bad situation – a sawmill using forced child labor. Despite typhoon
winds, Shou and environmentalists save the children but the perps escape as Dr. Meilin
discovers evidence against the wealthy collector. She tumbles over a cliff trying to hang
onto it and Shou barely rescues her from wild rapids and a waterfall.

Taking shelter from the thrashing winds, Shou and Dr. Meiling almost reunite but are called
to action and sneak down secret tunnels leading into the danger-filled lost temple where an
ancient ceremony is in process. The Nature Elementals go wild over the statuette and while
Shou tries to save the others, Dr. Meilin puts her life in danger to place it inside the altar,
which changes everything just in time for the eclipse. The Elementals approve, even
granting Shou’s wish that Dr. Meilin be brought back to life. The temple folds back up into
itself, sinks into the ground, and a tropical rain forest appears.

Shou restores the stolen artifacts and a year later he and a very pregnant Dr. Meilin are at
the fan-packed Bookworm Bookstore in Beijing, signing their new, co-authored book about
their hidden temple adventure. This time Shou is passing on his wise insights to Mick
Jagger and others about living life to its fullest.
