A Letter of Blessing
My heart rejoiced when I saw the galleys of the magnificent “Shamor V’zachor” siddur that is
being published by the Aram Soba community in Brooklyn, NY. This is a siddur for Shabbat
and holidays that has been prepared in an especially well-arranged and beautiful fashion, with
large print and well-organized halachot in English. This special edition of the siddur is being
published in memory of my close friend and dear, esteemed peer, a man who was among the
of
unique individuals of the generation, a man great achievements on behalf of Torah, a lover of
Torah and its students, a treasure of fear of God, Mr. Avraham (Bert) Dweck ” , who left for
his eternal resting place at a ripe old age on 20 Tevet, 5770.
My dear friend Avraham (Bert) Dweck ” was, for many years, one of the leaders of the Aram
Soba community in Brooklyn, NY, and I knew him personally and closely from my visits to the
community many years ago. I was able to see that the departed ” was a leading figure in all
matters of holiness, and was known for his great love for and close relationship with Torah
scholars. He worked with all his might to support Torah institutions in the Land of Israel and
throughout the Diaspora, and he was especially beloved to my dear friend HaGaon Rabbi
Baruch Ben-Haim ", Chief Rabbi of Shaare Zion,
.
I have the honor to bless his dear son, Mr. Isaac (Ike) Dweck
", whose spirit has stirred
him to publish this magnificent siddur for the public’s merit, together with his dear brothers Mr.
Aharon (Hank) Dweck and Mr. Yeshayahu (Richie) Dweck, may Hashem be with
them, who have continued along his path of love of Torah and love of Torah scholars. I hereby
bless them with much success in all their undertakings, wealth, happiness, long life, many years
of life, abundant joy, good health and all good things. May it be His will that the merit of this
mitzva should bring good health to their dear mother, Mrs. Shirley Dweck ' , that she may
enjoy much pride from all her offspring with good health, long life, years of life and all good
things, amen.
It is my honor to offer a special blessing to our dear, generous and honorable friends, lovers of
Torah and students of Torah, Mr. Yosef (Joe) Cayre
" and Mr. Isaac (Ike) Chera
", who
were privileged to take part in this mitzva of publishing this siddur, as well as the dear, esteemed
young rabbi, a man of a precious spirit and wisdom, the knowledgeable and scholarly Rabbi
Abraham Churba "
, who invested immense efforts to produce this flawless work. I am
honored to bless them that, with God’s help, they should earn long life, years of life and
abundant happiness, good health and pride from all their offspring.
With Torah blessings,
Ovadia Yosef
