Innovation and Technology have always been at the core of SPi Global’s growth.
Since its inception in 1980 in Manila, Philippines, it has served as a leading innovator
in the global content industry, being a home-grown and pioneering company in the
Philippines to provide outsourcing services to Fortune 500 Companies.
The birth of the internet in the 90s awakened the need for online versions of printed
materials. Adapting to the needs of its clients, SPi focused on standardizing processes
and developing solutions to widen its service portfolio. Editing and layout services
were offered to publishing clients, and content indexing for the legal and publishing
industries were introduced. It was also during this period that SPi pioneered the hybrid
offshore-onshore production model for US based clients and entered the medical
transcription market, to introduce voice encoding as a service.
More than two decades down the road, SPi had already earned the reputation of
being the expert in organizing content and an innovator for delivering content-related
services. In 2003, it began its global expansion and was awarded the largest back-file
conversion project in the global publishing industry.
Taking on the challenge of creating solutions for newly identified needs, The Content
Services group was created in 2004, which paved the way towards rapid growth.
After gaining the highest level certification in the software industry, SPi deployed
the first version of the SPiCE™, the company's proprietary pre-press tool.
In 2006, SPi introduced its new brand to signal the company’s multiple competencies
to include customer relationship management. Its becoming a formidable BPO
provider in the Legal, Healthcare and Publishing space resulted to the opening of the
Vietnam site.
By 2010, SPi had conquered more than just the publishing space, with deeper and
wider solutions in the scientific, technical, medical and legal verticals.
Bringing the company to new heights in 2011, SPiZone™ was deployed as a conver-
sion tool across production. Standardization of processes were undertaken with stra-
tegic customers -which encompassed the company’s strategy, technology, marketing,
and research and development units.
Enhanced “Content experience” came to the fore through eBooks, ePub 3.0 and
HTML5 deliverables, in 2012, and the development of SPi’s innovative quality
solutions expanded the company’s scope to offer end-to end services for
overall process optimization.
