Collaboration on Competition Regulation in the Civil Aviation Industry
Objectives
To foster cooperation in regulating competition within the civil aviation industry and to ensure that such regulation promotes free and fair competition. The goal is to enhance regulatory efficiency and flexibility in response to evolving business models and market behaviors. Furthermore, the project aims to promote education and understanding of commercial operations under the Trade Competition Act and the Air Navigation Act among personnel of both agencies and civil aviation business operators for maximum effectiveness.
Summary
On 27 September 2024, the Civil Aviation Authority ofThailand(CAAT)andtheTradeCompetitionCommission of Thailand(TCCT) jointly signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on collaboration in the regulation of trade competition. The purpose of this MOU is to support effective and timely regulation of civil aviation business competition, ensuring it remains free, fair, and responsive to ongoing changes in the aviation business landscape. In addition, the collaboration aims to advance knowledge-sharing and understanding of the relevant trade competition and aviation laws among the staff of both organizations and civil aviation operators to maximize regulatory efficiency.

Results
A cooperative framework for trade competition regulation between CAAT and the Trade Competition Commission of Thailand was successfully established.
