So why do we have an art exhibition
in the Jam & Ham Festival?
When the idea of staging an art exhibition as part of the
Jam and Ham Festival was first suggested it was both
exciting and scary, but posed the big question: “Will it fit
into a festival of Food and Music?”
The first Art Exhibition was put together in less than six
weeks before the festival in 2015 with a lot of help from
SLC and the Carluke Development Trust.
Due to the short time scale, the exhibition was set up by
three local artists in a small part of St. Athanasius Hall.
Forty pieces of work were displayed.
It was a great success and proved that the Carluke Jam and
Ham Festival was ready for a bigger and more ambitious
exhibition to include the work of local groups, students and
High School pupils; and so the current art exhibition was
born.
