URINE SEDIMENT PROFILES
• ISOLATED MICROSCOPIC HAEMATURIA: glomerular or non glomerular
• NEPHRITIC SYNDROME: many RBCs + RBC casts
• NEPHROTIC SYNDROME: fatty particles
• ACUTE TUBULAR NECROSIS: RTECs + RTEC casts + granular casts ± other particles according to the underlying disorder
• URINARY TRACT INFECTION: bacteria + PMNs ± WBC casts
• URINARY SCHISTOSOMIASIS: eggs of SH + RBCs
• POLYOMAVIRUS INFECTION IN RENAL ALLOGRAFT: decoy cells
• UROLOGICAL DISORDERS: isomorphic RBCs + WBCs ± deep/atypical transitional cells
