Dinwiddie High School
The school consists of a conducive environment for teaching and learning. The school hold staff
meetings everyday to discuss daily programmes as means of the way it operates. Necessary facil-
ities are provided in the school such as computer labs and a restaurant for learners to practice au-
thentic assessments. A tuck shop for learners is also provided as well as a school hall in which
concerts and other events are held in the school (staff meetings).
There is also a big field in which PET takes place to accommodate kinaesthetic learners in a in-
clusive way along with the sports taking place such as soccer and netball. However, the psycho-
logical environment is also sustained because different learners with different learning styles and
abilities are catered for and accommodated.
Additionally, the staff reception, toilets and other facilities are maintained and accessible for all
learners and teachers including parking lot for cars. To maintain security and unnecessary mobili-
ty of the learners in the school, patrollers and teacher’s pass outs are provided to monitor the situ-
ation.
The classrooms are big enough to accommodate the number of learners, different seating ar-
rangements can be used to do group work or peer learning such as hot potato method. Even
though not only in the entrance of classrooms, in the school ramps are not provided for disable
learners to provide access in an inclusive manner. Rotation methods is used after each and every
period were learners go to different classes and this consumes a lot time.
