Table 11: Document for Grade Distribution
• Grades from 2013/14 - 2017/18 from SPSS tables for courses with level <500.
• Only courses with >=50 students in 5 years (corresponding to at least 10 per year on average)
• For each course-calculated percentages of A, B, C, D, F, W and NCs (also include NC, since
some courses have large percentages of NCs
• Used k-means with 4 clusters to determine groups of courses similar based on grade
distribution
• Created 4 clusters, since 3 clusters were not able to extract a group with NCs, while 5 clusters
resulted in two unnatural groups (basically, split of classes that are easy to pass).
