Dance is an integral part of the Garifuna culture. One of the most well known dances is the

Larubeya Band is a Garifuna Band whose mission is to preserve Garifuna Culture and
Heritage for Generations to come through the performance of Garifuna music. Its members are from Belize, Honduras and Guatemala and their style of music is a rich combination of the styles of Garifuna music played in all three countries. The group was originally founded by Mr. Benedicto Baltazar, AKA Bal T, in 1990 in Belize City, and it later was joined by talented Garifuna musicians such as Mr. Lugua Centeno and the late Ras Chi. Larubeya Band released their first original Album entitled "Laguiribudun Larubeya" (meaning the Return of Larubeya) on October 29, 2016. Larubeya Band remains committed to the preservation of Garifuna Culture and Heritage through the art of music using traditional and original riddims in the Genres of Paranda, Punta, Wanaragua, Hungu Hungu, Chumba and more.

pageantry is elegant, beautiful and full of finesse. The dance is traditionally performed by men. Their costumes involve elaborate headdresses complete with feathers and mirrors. The dancers
wear bands of shells around their knees with white shirts and black or white pants. Black, green, or pink ribbons cross their chests depending on the time of year the dance is done. The Wanaragua is one of the few dances where theā€© drummers follow the dancer's movements, and not the dancer dancing to the beat of the drum. This allows for an exciting show of skill by both the dancer and the drummer.
