Preschool Level 1/2
Ages 3–6 years. This class is a blend of two levels. There are no prerequisites for Preschool Level 1. To be considered a Preschool Level 2, students must be able to submerge, blow bubbles under water and oat (with minimal assistance) comfortably on front and back. Both levels will be working on basic skills including, but not limited to: submerging, breath control (bubbles), oating, gliding, kicking and beginner stroking.
Preschool Level 2/3
Ages 3–6 years. Course prerequisites include independent oating and gliding (front and back). Preschool level 2 students will work on rolling over front to back and back to front, front crawl, and backstroke. In addition, Preschool level 3 students will work on breath control including side breathing, and introduction to the dolphin and whip kick.
Upon successful completion of the Preschool Aquatics program, swimmers will be ready for standard level 3 skills.
Level 1/2
Ages 6–14 years. This class is a blend of two levels. There are no prerequisites for Level 1. To be considered a Level 2, students must be able to submerge, blow bubbles under water and oat (with minimal assistance), comfortably on front and back. Both levels will be working on basic skills including, but not limited to submerging, breath control, oating, gliding, kicking and beginner stroking.
Level 2
Ages 6–14 years. Students must be able to submerge completely, blow bubbles under water, and oat on
their front and back comfortably and independently. The objective of level 2 is to give students success with fundamental oating and stroking skills. The emphasis will be on basic oating and stroking skills on both the front and back.
Level 3
Ages 6–14 years. Course prerequisites include independent oating and gliding (front and back), rolling over front to back and back to front, 6 yards front crawl, and backstroke. Class objective is to build on skills previously learned with an emphasis on breath control (side-breathing & bubble bobs) and also includes an introduction to the whip and dolphin kicks and elementary backstroke.
Level 4
Ages 6–14 years. Course prerequisites include 12 yards of both front crawl (with side breathing) and backstroke, 25 yards of elementary backstroke, and treading water (or oating) for 30 seconds. Students will continue to work on front crawl and backstroke. Two new strokes will be introduced: breaststroke and butter y.
Level 5/6
Ages 6–14 years. This class is a blend of two levels. Course prerequisites: 25 yards of both front crawl
and backstroke, 15 yards of breaststroke, 25 yards of elementary backstroke. To be considered Level 6, students must be able to swim 50 yards of front crawl, backstroke, and elementary backstroke as well as 25 yards of breaststroke. These two levels work on continued development in six different strokes (including
four competitive strokes), starts and turns, water safety and basic rescue techniques, and treading water. Alternative options at the completion of Level 6 include swim team, water polo, junior lifeguard, and junior swim instructor.
