Keith's Komments October brought the Texas Centennial Celebration, the Annual Sports Extravaganza and the 2nd Cabinet Meeting.
Thanks to all who participated in them!
Congratulations to PCC John Eads and PCC Joe Montag for their LCI Presidential awards given at the Cabinet Meeting by DG Henry White. Well-deserved for all they do for then District and their charitable efforts. We look forward to Lions John’s term as Texas Lions Camp President next year, and enjoy participating with Lions Joe in the Challenge Air events for handicapped kids. Thanks also to the clubs answering PCC John’s request for large fans to aid in the Friday Award events at the camp and other times of summer heat in Kerrville!
Patches were handed out to several clubs at the Cabinet meeting for their participation in Service Projects in the last Lions year. Unfortunately, some clubs were not recognized because their Secretary does not report their service activities. Does yours?
Thanks also to those clubs participating in the 100% program. We wish more of you would. The $25 per member goes a long way to helping those charities meet their budgets. As you know every dollar helps. District 2-X1 and MD2 received thank you letters from Leader Dogs for the Blind and World Service for the Blind recently for our donations. Do you have your banner patches?
November will bring the Feast of Sharing and a new Vision Bus for LS&TF. Stay tuned!

Our centennial celebrations in Dallas was a huge success and well attended by the Lions Of Texas. It was held at the Hyatt Regency in Richardson. Five past International Presidents were present with the current 1st Vice President Gudrun Yingvadottir as the keynote speaker. We wrapped up looking forward to the future in the old west tradition at the Eddie Deen’s Ranch. It was a memorable evening. Our 2nd Executive Council meeting was held on Oct 18 with focus on membership. There was a very good exchange of ideas. Those who were not able to attend missed an informative and enlightening evening.
November is the Diabetes awareness. Clubs are requested to plan a diabetes awareness activity. Our district diabetes chairperson Lion Gloria will be glad to visit your club and give a
short presentation. Over 30 million Americans or 9.4% suffer from Diabetes.
Diabetes has been added to our core service priorities. Our district membership is
still in the negative. This is a good time to plan your membership drives and invite potential members. District’s goal is to increase membership by 3.5% or at least one member net increase in each club. This is an achievable target. It is Thanksgiving season and time to feed the hungry. Please support your local food pantries or Texas Food Bank by organizing a food drive. More than 853,000 people in the North Texas Food Bank 13 county service area live in food insecure households. Let us make this a giving season. Diabetes and Hunger are both our five core service projects.
I am thankful for all Lions and everything we do. Wishing you all a harvest of blessings and good health. Happy Thanksgiving season.
