THE WYLIE EVENING LIONS CLUB
ADDS A NEW MONTHLY SERVICE ACTIVITY Wylie Evening President Pamela Baker
In the spirit of service, the Wylie Evening Lions Club (WELC) is volunteering at the Amazing Grace Food Pantry on the 2nd Thursday evening of every month. On July 29, 2014, a fire gutted the church building on the property. The rent from church provided the
funds for the pantry. The Pantry was housed out of the parsonage that was next to the church. The loss of income caused the pantry to struggle to stay open. In 2015, Lions Clubs International District 2-X1 gave $1000 for the rebuilding project and along with donations from many others, Amazing Grace Food Pantry has a new bigger and better building. WELC contributes $250 every year to the pantry. The volunteers currently distribute over 20 thousand pounds of donated food each month. Food items include fruits, vegetables, meat, bread, canned goods, and many more. The Pantry provides food and other household essentials on a weekly basis to many struggling families in Allen, Plano, Wylie, Sachse, Murphy, Farmersville, Royce City, Rowlett, and Caddo Mills just to name a few. The Pantry’s goal is to give food to Collin County
