Henry’s Time
As we enter the last month of the Lions year 2016-2017, I would like to thank each club in the District for the service they provided in their communities. It is each club President’s responsibility to make sure an
activity report is completed on a months basis. Please request for your club’s Secretary to complete the montly activity report. District 2-X1 is a very large district. For us to turn this district around, we are going to need everyone’s support. We have one more month left in the current Lions year. I would like to take this opportunity to encourage each club to do whatever it takes to end this year on a positive note.
The State Convention in San Antonio, Texas last weekend was one of the best State Convention I have attended in years. The leadership displayed by CC TJ Tijerina and the committee demonstrated great TEAM Work!
The Ice cream reception was exceptionall. It gave us valuable time to visit one-on-one with our special guests Past International President William L. “Bill” Biggs, Past International President Sid L. Scruggs III, our on Past International President Everett J. “Ebb” Grindstaff, Past International President Jim Ross, PID Joe Al Picone, PID Mike Butter, and ID Sam Lindsey.
You will be hearing the name Service Chair this next year; we ask that all Service Chairs ( committee) and Zone Chairs attend all Cabinet meetings and give a written or verbal report. How can we ask our clubs officers to attend Zone meetings and then we do not go to cabinet meeting?
We all live by Calendars. I would like to share some important date with you:
July 22, 2017, 1st Cabinet Meeting hosted by the Forney Lions Club.
October 28, 2017,2nd Cabinet Meeting TBA
January 20, 2018, Mid-Winter/3rd Cabinet Meeting organized by Irving Noon Day. Our guest Speaker will be PCC Mike Rourke

One more month to go! Time to complete the activity Keith's Komments reports and tell the District what you have done for the year.
March 24, 2018, 4th Cabinet Meeting hosted by Dallas Oak Cliff April 27-28 District Convention at Courtyard by Marriott
Get your recognition and patches for your banner. The 9
clubs that have not reported are needed to fulfill the District Governor’s goals. It looks like we may have a positive in membership! Did you note the FREE admission
fee for the first 10 days of June? This is your chance to bring in that one that has been on the fence. Give them a discount!
The Centennial District Convention in San Antonio was a great experience. We saw so many Lions from around the state and learned a lot over the 3 days. The planting of the Rose
Garden honoring the 12 Founders Clubs was a moving experience. These clubs
are over 100 years old! Several were represented at the ceremony in Breckenridge
Park in San Antonio, including our Dallas Founders Club.
Lion Henry will be installed as our new District Governor at the 100th International Convention in Chicago and Lion Bill will become the IPDG! Congratulations to both.
Lions University is a good opportunity to refresh your Lions lore and for the newly elected officers to hear about the coming year. The registration is slow, as Lions tend to wait for the last minute! You too? Complete the form and sign up now. I hope to see you there. You will hear from International Director Sam Lindsey and the incoming MD2 Council Chair Lion Rick Talbert as well as many lion and guest facilitators. No degrees this year, but certificates for all. Hope to see you there.
