2019 Annual Bill Melton Humanitarian Day
Lion Nia Mackay Dallas Oak Cliff
Dr. Phil Berry is the recipient of the 2019 Annual Bill Melton Humanitarian Day, held on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at Weiss Auditorium, Dallas Methodist Hospital in Oak Cliff, Dallas, TX.
The 41st recipient of this annual award has been a specialist in hip and knee reconstructive surgery at the Methodist Dallas Medical Center. In 2016, he performed his 1000th hip transplant using the anterior procedure, which provided faster recovery times in as short as 3 weeks, in some cases. Dr. Berry, along with other doctors established ‘Careflite,’ a helicopter emergency
transportation service transports patients between hospital. He was the first Medical Director and served as Chairman of the Careflite Medical Board for ten years and counting.
Bill Melton Humanitarian Award (ca 1978) has been given to a person who’s contribution and service to the community best symbolize the ideals of Lions. At this event, several past award recipients attended and witnessed Dr. Berry being honored. Thank you Dr. Berry, for your continuous service dedication to the community.
