Past Chaplain Appreciation Day
For the first time since it’s established in 1929 the Oak Cliff Lions Club held a Past Chaplain Appreciation Day on Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2017. Six of the past chaplains attended the debut program, they are Lions Pat Crenshaw, PP Michelle Metzger, District 2-X1 Chaplain David Mills, Paula Craig, PP Iris Smith, and Carol Sprague. The record of Lion who served as chaplain the most is being held by Lion David Mills (7 times), the second place held by PP Amy Alburtis (5 times, not present). The Oak Cliff Lions current chaplain, Lion Judy Porter coordinated the special program and presented all present chaplain with appreciation cards and gifts. The appreciation was part of the OCLC regular Wednesday noon meeting, in which the speaker that day, coincidentally, is Lion Carol’s sister in-law, Brenda Saunders Sprague. She is the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Passport Services in the Bureau of Consular Affairs oversees 29 agencies and centers that are responsible for the acceptance, adjudication, and issuance of US passports.
