J.P. Stevens 1897-1976
Mr. J.P. Stevens, the former chairman of J.P. Stevens and Company, Inc. and a trustee of the Wardlaw-Hartridge School, was a man who cared deeply about education. For many years, he en couraged both the Wardlaw and Hartridge Schools with his generous contributions. He was in strumental in making their subsequent merger run smoothly and successfully. Thanks to his many efforts, Wardlaw-Hartridge has become a viable and independent school.
As Mr. Horne stated, “ Mr. Stevens was truly dedicated to furthering the education of all ages. As far as the Wardlaw and Hartridge Schools were concerned, his efforts saw us through many difficult times. His fondest hope was to see the two schools merged, and I was delighted that his dream came true during his life.”
