EXPENDITURES BY SCHOOL
OF GIFTS FROM ASSOCIATIONS AND CLASSES
In 1929 Hildegarde Hallidayof 1922, diseuse, gave at the School a program of monologues and donated for a curtain fund for the stage the proceeds, $196. To this the Glee Club of that year added $40 and the graduating class added another $5. The curtain was
bought at once and the balance of the fund has been spent on an adjustment this winter to offset shrinkage in length, leaving in the fund only 38 cents.
In 1930 the Athletic Association made the School a gift of $100, and the Annual Board made a gift of $13 5.72, both of which to be used as Miss Hartridge directed, while the Glee Club gave for a Lighting Fund $76.5 6. The first two gifts were held until this year and then $180 was paid for a tennis practice board on the new athletic field and $30 for baskets and nets for the new platform, while the balance is being held for repairs.
The Lighting Fund will probably be used for additional lights next year for the stage. Those given by the Oakwood Dramatic Society a number of years ago still serve.
In 1931 the Senior Class made a gift of $5 5 for special reference books for the study hall. This has already been expended, the larger part helping to pay for the Dictionary of American Biography.
In 1934 an anonymous gift of a cyclorama has added greatly to the possibilities of the stage, as it makes a most effective background.
The Parents’ League has given the School this past year a wooden platform, 100 by 50 feet, to be used on days when the ground is wet.
