The Faculty Play
On I^riday, March i;th, the h'aculty presented a sinister Chinese
tragedy called “ 1he Cat and d'he Cherub.”
Miss Williamson acted the part of the \’illain, an e\'il creature who
longed to marry and enslave the beautiful Ab Yoi, in person none other than Afrs. McCarter. I ler uncle, Hoo King, a \'ery mercenary man, acted by Miss Mapelsden, was only too willing to sell her to the highest
bidder. Miss Bristow was her young hero, killed in rescuing the little Hoo Chee, who was kidnapped by Chim bang.
Miss Hewes played the difficult role of Wing Shee, a splendid and much loved doctor. 7'he part of an unhappy little slave was taken by
Miss Sprague, upon whom lell the blame for the loss of lloo Chee. Miss Shreve and Miss Hay were highly amusing as a vegetable seller and an
opium fiend, respectively. Mademoiselle Blanc’s portrayal of a police man greatly intrigued us.
All the cast acted splendidly—to say nothing of the dragon. We spent a most enjoyable e\’ening, even thougb a rather uneasy one, so real istic were the murders.
The proceeds of the evening, $206.00, went to the Vassar Salary endowment Fund.
