Alumnae Note8
1 'his has been a bus\}^ year for us, full of work and study, and parties and weddings. Over fifty of us are in college, conspicuous, as usual, in many phases of the life there. At Wellesley Eleanor Cooper is Chairman of the Students’ Committee for Plans for Freshmen : at Vassar Laura Butterfield has been acting in Dear Brutus, Helen Pennock is in the choir, and Elizabeth Fenner was Chairman of First Hall Play and heads the Founders’ Day Committee. Margaret Patterson and Helen Patterson are studying in Paris: Saidee Sandford is devoting herself to the Law, and Adele and Cato DeLeeuw and Edith Mellick continue to follow the Arts with distinguished success. Ruth Broughton, Margaret Borland, Katharine Shellabarger, iMargaret Taylor, and Margot VMlentine are teaching: Cornelia Lyle and Peggy Thomas are our recruits in the business world; and Hildegarde Halliday, Caroline Butterfield, and Crania Knott are fulfilling the dramatic promise of their school da^vs.
Many of us are getting engaged and married, and large numbers of us pursue the lively careers of parents, bringing up our families wisely and happily (we pray)
and enjoying the world as we go through it. We joyfully welcome back to this side of the world Frederica Mead Hiltner and Anne Swann Goodrich, who are home from China for good.
We have had no Alumnae Luncheon this year, but we hope to hold a reunion in June. There is promise, too, of another Grandchildren’s Party at Oakwood—an occa
sion for mutual congratulations of three generations, ourselves, the babies, and the babies’ doting grandmothers.
