This year’s team had a successful season, despite losing their opener to Kinnelon. After winning 7 straight games, they captured the Prep B title. Exceptional individual efforts re sulted in placing 8 starters on the All-State team. Four other members received honorable mentions.
‘‘Out of the 3 championship teams of my coaching career, this team is by far the most competitive and unified of them all" stated Phil Graham, Head Coach and Athletic Director. It was remarkable that the team achieved as much as it did, since it was a small team, com prised of only 25 members. Leaders were a big factor in bringing this team together, according to Mr. Graham. He felt that the amount of en thusiasm shown by the coaching staff reflected in the team’s performance.
‘‘My coaching staff, which included Mr. Shello, Mr. Kern, and Mr. Anderson contributed a lot to the motivation of the team, especially in those hot double-session practices of August. What my coaches could not convey to the play ers was translated by our tri-captains, Steve Maxwell, Doug Foley and Mark Domino, to the rest of the team. Everyone involved played a big part in our success this year."
