ATHLETICS
The athletic program encompasses the third through the twelfth grades and requires all students to partici pate in a diversity of sports through out the school year.
At the lower levels the department teaches basic physical education. To teach “ basics” means to develop solid skills in students which enable them to participate in both team and individ ual sports. These skills can be refined as the student grows in ability; how ever, competition takes a back seat to learning.
In the middle school the department keeps all students involved in athlet ics. Students are given training to in crease their knowledge of skills while they also have the opportunity to test these skills by competing against other schools.
The mainstay of our program at the upper school is a total program of in terscholastic sports from freshman to varsity level. In addition, the depart ment offers phys-ed classes to those students who do not compete on a team.
