VOLLEYBALL HAS WINNING EDGE
Volleyball ended its season with a 6-5 edge. But in the Division the team fared better, racking up a 5-2 record.
The finale of the season was the State Tournament, in which the girls finished third. "It was a long day, and we played awesomely. But we were getting tired and it caught up with us in the end," commented junior Jamie Keeter.
Over the season the Lady Rams managed to dig out wins over top- ranked opponents such as the Academy of St. Elizabeth, Morristown-
Beard, and Lacordaire. Earlier in the season, however, the team suffered a painful loss to Princeton Day in a match that lasted only 30 minutes.
After winning the first game 15-8, PDS went on to take the second 15-10, behind the 10-point scoring of player number 7. "We lost the game with stupid mistakes receiving the serve," commented Coach Klenk. "They were not a better team."
This year's team was led by Captains Beth Lebowitz and Betsy Miller and included Heather Hamilton, Maryellen Held, Toni Ring, freshman swing player Marci Zitner, and Keeter. The 11-member team did not seem to have a size disadvantage, as did W-H teams of the past.
Though Miller's powerful and precise serving and spiking abilities will be missed next year, the team will have most of its players returning.
