 Alumnae Notes
We had a really distinguished luncheon this year in the midst of the Re- cession, about fifty of us turning up at the Hotel Weylin. After a greeting from our new president, Grace Robinson McClure, Miss Hartridge gave us a description of the new building that is to go up at Oakwood, and very thrilling it sounded. The movies that we had taken of school activities were a howling success. There were some showing morning exercises, sports, a patient in the office, conferences, and one of Miss Hartridge’s portrait. The progressive school for the younger children was shown also. Mary Crapo’s movies (vintage of ’28 and ’29) were a delight to us old fogies.
Last summer Shirley Clark ran into Mary Musser and Laura Jane at Salzburg, and found Ethel Royster there, too—a regular Hartridge reunion. Mary McLellan is here from England with news of Jean’s marriage to Arthur Morrison Marr. Betty is teaching. We see that Agnes Rogers Allen has turned to the lighter side of life and appears in the J\[ew Tor\er these days. Connie VanDuyn is living with Vir ginia Howell Mussey in New York, and is working with a well-known marionette troupe.
Fifty-two of us are at college, doing well in our various fields. Betty Brokaw, at Smith, has drawn a prize-winning poster which has been taken by World Peace- ways, and will appear in their propaganda. Joann Vail is on the daisy-chain at Vassar.
Our Association has been busy sending out and answering a questionnaire. A register based on this will appear soon, with addresses and all the rest of the news.
