Miss W. (trying to recall President Johnson, but confounding him with Jackson) — ‘‘Jack— Jack— Johnson. V>
Jack, entering the room, knocks the map off the stand, and hangs it up backward.
Miss W.— “ I’d like it so I can use it, please.”
Jack takes it down, looks at it carefully, and hangs it up upside down.
Is the joke on Miss W. or on Jack?
IVIiss M. (English V ) — “ Alice, what are you going to be in the Christ mas magazdne ?”
A. J.—“A joke!”
Miss S.— “ Ethelwyn, you go to the front board, and Dorothy, you go to the side board or the dinner wagon.”
J. B. T. (in geometry)^—“This string is longer than that string, be cause that string is shorter than this string.”
M. M. (translating Cicero)— “ I do not know anything” . Miss H.—“Oh! imagine Cicero saying that!”
E. S. (Virgil V ) — “ His mother gave him decorative hair. n

Miss H.— “ What was planted on the side of the hill?” E. W.—“Houses.”
