Students Appreciate Mrs. Katrausky
“In mathematics—as in anything else—you get out of it just what you put into it!” And that is the manifesto of Mrs. Gladys H. Katrausky, head of the Wardlaw mathematics department and one of the school’s more hard-working faculty members.
This year’s Maroon and Gold is dedicated to her. Ever cheerful and willing to give assistance whenever it is requested, Mrs. Katrausky works her classes hard; but she manages to make them very, very en joyable. She likes the nickname her students have given her: The Cat.
A member of the Wardlaw teaching staff since 1958 and department head since 1962, Mrs. Katrausky is one of the main reasons why the school faculty enjoys generally a reputation for such high efficiency.
She is a cum laiide graduate of Acadia University with additional education courses at Rutgers Univer sity and the National Sciences Foundation.
Born in Canada, she became a United States citizen in 1939. She lives on Watchung Avenue, Plainfield, with her husband, a retired banking executive. She is very proud of her two daughters and seven grand children.
Mrs. Katrausky is active outside of Wardlaw in community and church circles. She is a past president of the local chapter of the American Association of University Women and is currently treasurer of the Evening Guild of Crescent Avenue Presbyterian Church.
