5 Farewell from Mrs. Eserner
Dear Class of 2014,
It is hard to believe that another academic year at W-H is coming to a close. The Senior Farewell Letter has become something of a tradition in its own right, but this year I find myself wanting to break convention. Instead of writing a letter just listing the accomplishments of the Class of 2014, or telling you all how proud the entire W-H community is of your graduation, I want to take this opportunity to talk about the paradoxical combination of jubilee and sadness you all may be feeling. Graduating from Upper School is a milestone, probably one of the most significant milestones in your lives thus far. Your entire academic career has been in pursuit of this very moment, and perhaps some of you are feeling a bit apprehensive at the prospect of leaving; irrespective of whether you are 'lifers' or you came to W-H in ninth grade.
you finalize your individual plans for next year, it might be hard to accept that in collectively pursuing your own pirations for higher education, you will be carving out individual paths for yourselves. This is both beautiful and iry. While you will explore the new and exciting, you will have to break free from the confines of all that has been fe and familiar to you over the years. Undoubtedly, you are wondering whether or not you will keep in touch with ur W-H friends. You will question what your legacy is to the community you have been a part of for so long. You
’ 11 try to forge your own place in an ever-changing and ever-expanding world.
stead of worrying about the unknown, anticipate and welcome all that you will discover. Choose the path of success it brings you the most joy. Continue dreaming and believing you can affect change. As one of my favorite authors, '. Seuss, said, "You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction
■jfuchoose. You're on your own. And you know what you know. You are the one who'll decide where to do go."
iu are a very talented group. You have excelled academically, as your college acceptances have shown. You have oken athletic records. You have been welcomed into state and national muscial groups. Your art pieces and dramatic ntributions have been recoginzed beyond W-H. You have been amazing Senior Buddies and role models for the
nderclassmen. Know that you will leave a lasting impression on the Wardlaw-Hartridge school. The faculty, staff, ministration, and Board of Trustees are so very proud of your collective and personal achievements,
f
' you go off into the unknown, instead of only wishing you the best of luck, I also wish for each of you a life full unimagined possibility. I hope you will continue to think of Wardlaw-Hartridge as your home-away-from-home you make your way in the world and through life. Please stay in touch. I will miss you all.
ndly,
lona Eserner
