MPMA Hits the Pavement

with Kidney Walk

Drs. Jodie Sengstock and Jeri Berkowitz were joined by residents Abdul Kabani and Matt
Touanovic at the National Kidney Foundation of Michigan’s Kidney Walk at the Detroit
Zoo on Sunday, May 19. The annual event raises much needed funds to enhance the lives
of many Michigan residents through patient services, prevention programs, education
programs, children’s programs and research. MPMA was a supporting partner in this event.

The doctors volunteered their time to greet participating walkers and answer their foot
health questions, especially addressing the importance of foot health for those with
diabetes, a common illness in individuals with kidney disease. The team handed out MPMA
educational materials and promotional pieces to the more than 4,500 participants. With the
help of the MPMA, the Foundation raised $420,000.
