I want to personally thank Steve Cooley and Bob Schirn for engaging this
project. Their ability to honor these heroes is unparalleled. Outlining the
painful realities of their murders should serve as a reminder to each of us
that life is precious. It should also call to attention the reality of danger and
the uncompromising sacrifice our law enforcement professionals are all too
often forced to make. As you read this book, my hope is that you remember
the critical role law enforcement professionals play in our society. For with-
outut the vigilance, courage, and integrity of these individuals, our great
     o
nation would be overrun by lawlessness and chaos. There is no justice with-
     out our Warriors.
If you are a law enforcement professional, work in public safety, are a
family member connected to the “Blue Family,” interested in LEO’s safety, a
community activist, or just want to learn more about these brave officers
who made the ultimate sacrifice to uphold their oath to protect and to serve,
you’ll love this book. And if, after reading this, you’re looking to do more to
benefit the law enforcement family, I’d encourage you to join me and my
friends at www.undertheshield.com to learn more about how you can get in-
v volved in your own community.
