Aruba’s development “WHEN the future looks back to this period they
is entering a will see a period of transformation and transition.”
Prime Minister mike Eman mentioned during an
NEW PHASE interview held at the end of his colleague Minister
Mike de Meza and his visit to the new harbor

Prime Minister Eman said: “The moment you
paralyze your country which is how we found
Aruba on 2009 the country will start deteriorating,
unemployment will increase and your country will
be less attractive to tourists. This is exactly what
happened, during that period Aruba had a decrease
in tourism. The situation is different now, because
the Government invested in Aruba at the beginning
of their reign in 2009, thus making Aruba a worthy
competitor once more.
Last Tuesday I shared our tourism figures for the
first half of 2015 with Minister Otmar Oduber and I
must say they are quite impressive. Aruba has had a
16% increase of visitors.”
“If we observe the United States market, we
notice how it has developed despite the crisis
complications. We have invested and established
Aruba which led to an enormous increase in that
market.”
The Government investments establish Aruba as
a product and make sure it continues developing
while maintaining a high quality.
The Green Corridor will ensure an improvement of
our roads and the houses in Pos Chiquito, Savaneta,
Zeewijk, Brazil, Cura Cabai, Mabon and San Nicolas.
Aruba’s recent visitors express how impressed they
are with the recent developments.
According to Prime Minister Mike Eman tourists
aren’t the only ones who mentioned this but also
Aruban’s that have been living abroad our Aruban
family members that have been living abroad
express their admiration for the Downtown area
renovation and the Linear Park.
The Linear Park is an interesting project because
not only does it embellish Aruba but also motivates
citizens to be healthier.
Some other interesting development projects that
have been completed are the Developments in de
Vuyst, Village and the Carnival Village.
“The projects improve Aruba’s quality of life; create
more job opportunities and make Aruba more
attractive to investors.”
Regarding the Green Corridor project the Prime
Minister emphasized that it is not a project that
needs to be paid immediately but one that can be
transferred through the years, approximately 20
years. This means that the burden will be distributed
through out decades and will thus be easier to bear.
This project is long overdue but is now finally being
implemented and the financial burden won’t be so
hard to bear. The San Nicolas area is in dire need
of this project so as to be more accessible to tourists
and to be able to develop their economic potential
as much as possible now that the refinery is no
longer operating.
