ORANJESTAD - ‘Dande’ is a
music form that is unique
in Aruba. The Dande was
born around 1880 after
King Willem II liberated the
slaves. The liberated slaves
started playing the tambu
and visited Aruban homes
to wish them a Happy New
Year. This is a true local
tradition since there is no
other island in the Carib-
bean that has a Dande tra-
dition. Coming Sunday you
will have the opportunity to
grasp a bit of this cultural
treasure.

If you’d like to join a real
Aruban, traditional eve-
ning, come to Centro di
Bario Brazil. From 10 am to
8 pm it is all about true Aru-
ban culture. It’s free admis-
sion for a day full of surpris-
