NEW YORK (AP) — Former
tennis pro James Blake
has met with New York’s
mayor and police com-
missioner to discuss how
he was tackled by a po-
liceman during a mistak-
en arrest.
Blake describes Monday’s
meeting as productive. He
says he has confidence
Democratic Mayor Bill de
Blasio (BLAH’-zee-oh) is
making changes that will
have a lasting impact.
Surveillance video of
Blake’s Sept. 9 arrest out-
side a Manhattan hotel
shows the officer charge
at him, grab him by the
arm and roughly take him
to the ground. The officer
has been placed on desk
duty.
Blake had said the officer
should lose his job. Follow-
ing the meeting he says
he understands the of-
ficer has rights and he’ll
respect the legal process.
Police say Blake was mis-
taken for a crime suspect
who looks just like him.q
