What is ego?
ORANJESTAD - So many books and lectures have been shared with what seems to be
the most misunderstood energy that lives within us. So many misconceptions about this
one topic. Let’s make it simple. Ego is an energy of limitation.
Why limitation? Ego is like an energy that protects us from hurtful or harmful beings or
situations in our lives. It kind of builds a protective wall around us and our loved ones.
This shows how much our ego needs to protect us, which is natural. But this invisible wall
that it builds also is the limitation to what we actually are capable of orlimits what we
are able to grasp mentally and emotionally. Limits our feeling of love and oneness, limits
our sense of compassion, limits our feeling of joy and happiness, limits our experiences
of peace and limits our intelligence. It limits all this to within the wall the ego has built,
therefore we can’t experience long periods of love, joy and peace and feeling of one-
ness. Limits our knowledge to what we learn in school or at home and eventually not
in touch with our own divine intelligence within that is far vast and wise. We don’t build
the wall on purpose, it’s natural. Knowing this, we can transcend this limitation to access
what we truly are and be the divine being and expression of The One that we have
always been.q
Suresh Mirchumal is a spiritual writer. “Well, you can categorize it like that, although
I don’t call myself one. These thoughts come in effortlessly.” His aim is in a way to
reach out to whoever gets inspired or has an eye opening event within them that
may transcend their current state of consciousness. “Or let’s say current emotional
state too. If one in a thousand benefits, that is already great.” Due to the current
world state, lots of struggles and stresses, we seem to lose touch with that inner
peace that we long for, Suresh explains. “I wish to ease that through these small
articles or tidbits.” You will find his tidbits in Aruba Today from now on, mostly on
Tuesdays and Thursdays.
