21 SPAR HITCH
This is something of a cross between a Clove Hitch and a Constrictor Knot. It
grips better than a Clove Hitch where there is greater load on one side than the
other, but is more easily undone than a Constrictor. To make the Spar Hitch a
turn is taken around the spar with the working end crossing over the standing
part before going round again. It then crosses over itself and tucks under the
standing part. All that remains is to work the knot tight.
