Abnormal Findings in Abdominal Assessment

A focused Gastrointestinal and/or Genitourinary assessment
should be performed if:

 Pain and tenderness may indicate
• Underlying inflammatory conditions

o Peritonitis

 Unusual findings in urine output may indicate
• compromised urinary function

 Unusual findings with bowel movements
