Welcome aboard Queenslander Class on The Sunlander, a travel experience combining comfort and style, with Queensland’s own special brand of hospitality. Sit back and enjoy this multi-award-winning service, as you take in the ever-changing scenery between Brisbane and Cairns.
Queensland hospitality and service that is simply in a class of its own. Your dedicated onboard Maître d’ will take special care to ensure your needs are attended to, making your journey both relaxing and enjoyable. Dining
Queenslander Class is renowned for its superb dining experience. All meals, which are included in your fare, are enjoyed in the Dining Car under the attentive care of our Maître d’ . There will be a selection of dishes for each course and your order will be taken after being seated.
The onboard sta will advise you of meal times. Please note that on busy occasions, there may be two sittings for each meal. Tea, co ee and light snacks are available outside these times from the Lounge Car.
Safety and security
When you arrived onboard, you would have noticed a key in the lock on the outside of your door. We strongly recommend you lock your room whenever you leave it unoccupied. The journey is generally quite smooth, however, occasionally there may be slight unexpected lateral movement; please carry hot liquids carefully to avoid spillage. Take care when getting on and o the train.
For your safety, we maintain discreet security presence. However, Queensland Rail Travel cannot accept liability for loss of personal items if left in unattended cabins. Please assist the onboard sta by placing your key in the door at the end of your Queenslander Class journey.

Pamper pack
Inside your cabin you’ll nd a small range of toiletries with our compliments.
Wash basin
The wash basin is cleverly concealed in the right side of the wall in front of your seat. Please use the small clasp to pull the basin down. Once down, both hot and cold water is available by using the taps normally. The basin empties when lifted back into its concealed position.
Vanity unit
Within the same unit as the wash basin, a vanity unit is also available. This includes a mirror and space to store personal items. Also located within this unit is a 240 volt power point.
Speaker
There is a speaker located in the ceiling for announcements and commentary.
Lights
There is a cabin light for general lighting as well as a light for night time reading located on the wall above your pillow.
Wardrobe
In the centre of the wall opposite the seat,
a small wardrobe is located with shelf space. Please feel free to unpack and use this facility.
Luggage
Onboard luggage can be stored under your seat.
Desk space
There is a small tray located underneath your seat that acts as a small desk. Simply slide the tray out, place the two hooks within the hinges at the base of the wardrobe and drop the single leg to provide stability.
At night
Your seat converts into a fold-down bed
for overnight accommodation. Whilst you are enjoying your evening meal, Queenslander Class sta convert the seat into the bed con guration. Extra pillows and blankets are available from the storage area above your cabin door.
Your destination
Our onboard sta will advise you 20 minutes prior to arrival at your destination. Please be prepared for arrival at this time. If this is mid-journey for the train, please have your luggage by the exit door ready for prompt exit. All stations o er public telephones and are accessible by taxis.
Station stops
The Sunlander will stop at most cities and towns along our route. Please be aware these are usually very quick stops and you should only leave the train if it is your departure point.
Emergency procedures
In the event of an emergency requiring
your evacuation from the train, please
follow public announcements and instructions provided by onboard sta .
An emergency procedure card has been placed in your cabin; please take the time
to read the details. Unless otherwise directed, you may only disembark from the carriage when it is stationary and your exit door is adjacent to a platform.
Medical assistance
There is a First Aid quali ed onboard sta member. Please note, however, that our onboard sta are unable to perform a personal caretaker role and also cannot assist with administering drugs. If you require medical assistance, please contact an onboard sta member immediately. Hospital facilities are available at major centres along our journey.
Stopping and slowing
From time to time during the journey,
the train may slow, or even stop away from a dedicated station. This may be because we are waiting for other train tra c, or signals to change, or in some instances, due to track work. Please do not be concerned or attempt to leave the train as these periods are usually of a short duration.

Water cooler
There is a water cooler located at the end of most carriages. There are small cups available at each location.
Bathroom
Toilets and showers are located at the end
of your carriage. Please refrain from using the toilet facilities whilst the train is stopped at any station.
Motorail
The Motorail facility is available to Queenslander Class passengers. If you have brought your vehicle with you, it may be claimed from Motorail reception within 30 minutes of arrival.
