Listen and circle the words you hear.
M Did you see what Mr. Tretter did in chemistry class (yesterday/today)?
W Yes. When he put the piece of (metal/model) in the water, it exploded.
M Yes. Wasn't it amazing? I did not know that chemistry could be so
(fascinating/interesting).
W Me, neither. Who knew you could make something (blow up/explode) just by
putting it in water.
M Yes, it really is awesome. By the way, we still need to finish our (lab/homework)
assignment.
W Okay. (Start/Begin) reading the procedure while I get the materials.
W These calculus problems are so (easy/hard).
W I know. Calculus is much more (simple/difficult) than algebra or geometry.
W Maybe we should ask (the teacher/someone) for help.
W Then the other students will think we are not as (good/smart) as them.
W I bet most of the other students are (confused/confounded), too. We should just
ask. It is the only way we will learn.
W I guess that's true. (Some/Most) of the other students do look confused.
W They are probably afraid of looking (smart/stupid) just like you.
M Are you (going/ready) to run the mile today?
M I wish I didn't have to. Gym is my (most/least) favorite class. Running is so stupid.
M It's important to exercise and stay (fit/healthy), though.
M That's true, but running is so (tedious/boring). Why can't we play soccer instead?
M Well, you have to run a lot in (soccer/football).
M That's true, but it is much more (exciting/fun) than running.
