Some people believe there is a creature that lives high in the Himalaya
Mountains of Asia. This creature is known as the Abominable Snowman, but the

Tibetans call it “The Yeti”. Local legend describes it as a huge, hairy beast with
long arms that hang to its knees. It walks upright on its legs like people, and even

has a humanlike face. The Yeti is rumored to occasionally leave the snowy
regions to come attack the local villagers. However, there is no proof that the Yeti

             actually exists.
Some people claim to have seen large footprints in the snow in Himalayas.

Perhaps these are the Yeti’s footprints, or perhaps they are the footprints of a
running bear, whose hind feet land on the prints left by its front feet. Such a print

could appear to be a large human print. Other large prints are most likely formed
when the snow melts around a group of several smaller animal footprints.

Explorers of the Himalayas have seen the footprints of a large unknown
creature since the 1890s. The Tibetans have several hairs and pieces of dried

scalp, which they claim are from the Yeti. However, scientists have discovered
that these pieces come from bears, yaks, antelopes, and other animals.

The explorer, Sir Edmund Hillary went on an expedition in search of the Yeti
in 1960. He did not find it. It does not seem likely that a large ape, or similar

animal, could live in such high and snowy regions, because food is too scarce for
             it to survive.
