In order to narrow down, isolate,
and formally diagnose people
with irritable bowel syndrome,
the medical community has
set certain parameters.
To be diagnosed with IBS,
the symptoms of IBS must
have occurred in the last three
months, persisted for a
minimum of six months
and occurred with a minimum
frequency of three episodes
per month.
