Gautama Buddha, also known as

Siddhartha Gautama, or simply

Buddha was a sage who found the

teachings of Buddhism. He is the

same person who lived and taught

mostly in the eastern part of

ancient India during the 6th and

4th centuries BCE. Gautama taught

a neutral way between the sensual

indulgence and the severe asceticism

found in the sramana movement.

He continued to teach throughout

eastern India. Gautama is the
