When using a repetitive stimulus,
the animal becomes distracted and
fixated on the stimulus.
Restraining an animal, meanwhile,
has a soothing effect on the animal
which renders it motionless.
Both of these techniques are often
used when training a pet.
Hypnotherapy of animals suggests
that desired behaviors can be
produced when a relaxed state is
established.
