In 1970, a collaborative program
was initiated between NASA
and the European Space
Agency to develop the Hubble
Space Telescope (HST).
These efforts culminated in
1990 when the HST was
launched.
Since then, the HST has been
a preeminent technology for
gathering astronomical data.
