Claudius Ptolemy established
the Ptolemaic system in his
treatise titled, Almagest –
this formed the preliminary
foundation from which
modern astronomy would
grow and develop.
Throughout the Middle Ages,
the Ptolemaic system remained
an authoritative exposition
on the principles of astronomy.
