Mergers and acquisitions (M&A)

Mergers and acquisitions refers to transactions by which

companies are combined through the purchase, sale,

and combining of separate companies or assets thereof.

Although typically used as a single term, mergers and

acquisitions are actually two different processes for

business combinations

– Merger

– Two companies combine to form a single, new entity that may
operate under one of the previous company’s identities or create a
new organizational identity
