A Greater Impact Campaign
The A.R. & M.L Tandy Foundation gave the Y a major grant in 2018 to help seed a campaign for capital •
improvements to the Main Facility. Since then, the Y has been reaching out to key stakeholders in what is called
the “quiet phase” to support campaign initiatives that include renovations to the main facility, as well as to the
Child Enrichment Center and the Harbor Montessori School, the Y-Arts Annex, and Camp K. It also includes a
component to support the endowment. The Y looks forward to kicking off the campaign and engaging the whole
community starting in 2022.

The Y is undergoing its first major renovation since 1990. The goal is to increase critical infrastructure like air
circulation, HVAC, and mechanical and electrical systems throughout the whole building.
While doing so, the Y will add a multi-purpose fitness studio, a teaching kitchen, create new community multi-
purpose spaces, construct an enlarged lobby and view corridor, enlarge the wellness area by 25%, renovate the
lower lobby, replace flooring and ceiling tiles, renovate the restrooms, and brighten the space with paint. Further,
the building will be modernized with a full roof solar array on the fieldhouse.
The Board of Trustees voted to move forward with renovations of the main facility in November with a
guaranteed maximum price of $6.2 million. While 80% of the funds were raised at that point, fundraising
continues in order to complete the project without taking on long-term debt. The project began in order to stave
off increased labor shortages and supply chain challenges. In addition to renovations to the main facility, the Y
plans to continue fundraising to update the Y-Arts Annex, the Harbor Montessori School and Child Enrichment
Center, and Camp K. The main facility renovations will be complete in the Fall of 2022.
