Dear Friends of the Boothbay Region Y,
It is with excitement and sincere gratitude to our staff and community that we share the Boothbay Region
Y’s 2021 Annual Impact Report. We are enormously appreciative of all of those who support the Y and
helped further our mission during this past year.
Despite the challenges of 2021, the Y has continued to serve the community, as it has for 65 years. We are
especially proud of the partnership forged with Lincoln Health, which led our Y to be the first YMCA in the
nation to become a vaccination center. Nearly 30,000 Mainers received their vaccination in the Marylouise
Tandy Cowan Fieldhouse. The Harbor Montessori School and Childhood Enrichment Center have been open
throughout the pandemic and continue to support working families with child care and early childhood
education. Camp Knickerbocker enjoyed full enrollment last summer, and Y Arts once again offered area
youth the opportunity to participate in an amazing performing arts program. The Y’s no-questions-
asked healthy snack program has grown, and we have provided over10,000 meals. Wellness classes were
attended in person and remotely, and the pools, field house, and gym bustled with activity despite the
challenges of the pandemic. In addition, Y membership grew this summer and fall after suffering setbacks
stemming from COVID-19.
We are very excited about the growing momentum of the “A Greater Impact Campaign” and the renovation
to the Y’s Main Campus Facility, which has recently begun and will be completed next fall. In addition to
necessary improvements in mechanical systems and infrastructure, the renovation will provide much needed
upgrades to the downstairs wellness facility, the lobby, and community multi-purpose meeting spaces, in
addition to a new teaching kitchen, wellness studio, and intergenerational rooms. This summer, as we enter
the public phase of the “A Greater Impact Campaign,” there are also much needed improvements planned
for The Harbor Montessori School, Child Enrichment Center, Y-Arts Annex, and Camp Knickerbocker. To
those who have supported our campaign initiatives so far, we are immensely grateful for your enthusiasm
and encouragement as we move forward to improve our services and facilities. For those who have yet to
participate, we thank you in advance for your assistance in furthering our mission of serving the Boothbay
Region Community.
We look forward to seeing you in 2022 and are grateful to the entire community for its generous support
of the Y, its programs, and its people.
Sincerely,
Charlie Britton Andy Hamblett
