Sailor’s whipping
The sailor’s whipping was one of the most popular
aboard ship in the Age of Sail. It’s an improvement
on the plain whipping because the turns don’t get
disturbed when the ends are locked, and it’s less
likely to unravel. It’s also really quite easy to do once
you get the hang of it.
1 Lay the end of the twine lengthways over the line.
