Zeppelin bend
Said to have been used to secure zeppelins in the
1930s, this bend is equally handy in other situations.
Like the rigger’s bend, which it closely resembles,
it’s based on nothing more than a pair of
interlocking overhand knots. But if it’s good enough
for the US Navy, it should be good enough for the
rest of us.
1 Put a bight and a loop in one line, as if preparing to tie an overhand
knot, and pass the working end of the other line through the bight.
