Jacked bowline
A regular bowline will become destabilised if its
loop is pulled apart from each side. In this situation,
it’s better to tie a ‘jacked’ bowline, which is designed
to withstand a sideways pull.
1 Tie a bowline in the regular way, except orientate it the other way, with
the working end passing under the standing part.
